About
Welcome to the OpenEd Community site! This site is for anyone interested in open education, from Open Ed experts to those new to the field. To narrow your focus to a specific audience, click any of the links to your left (For Teachers, Learners, etc.).
This site should help you arrive at a variety of information, whether you are looking for an organization contact, a particular report, guidance on how to license your educational work, or information on where/when a particular conference is being held. However, please keep in mind that thought we host some of these resources (such as event data), most of the information on this site is linked to other sites. Rather than duplicate efforts, we choose to drive traffic to the many excellent, existing resources out there. The goal is for everyone to contribute by adding information and links to sites we have not yet discovered.
OpenEd is a point of departure for people to understand some of the issues and aspirations related to open education, and we expect it to drive interest in creating new forms of media and outreach to help more people understand open education, CC licenses, and hopes for the future.
Our Supporters
We thank the Open Education community for their contributions to OpenEd and for all that they do.
We also thank the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for supporting the creation and maintenance of this site.
Your Contributions
Please keep in mind that any contributions to OpenEd will be licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License and attribution will be to OpenEd and not to individual contributors. However, contributor information is always available from the given wiki page, so interested parties can still find out who contributed what to the wiki.
Because the site is licensed under the most open Creative Commons license, we encourage you to adapt site content! Especially feel free to translate it into other languages, perhaps even building a mirror site in your particular jurisdiction. One of the goals of OpenEd is to make it as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, regardless of location, culture, or browser speed.
A Note to Teachers of Young Children
If you are a teacher of children under the age of 13, we ask that you make sure that no personally identifiable information regarding any of your students be submitted to this Site. This is for legal and safety reasons. If you submit any work created by a student under the age of thirteen, you must make sure that the student's name, along with information such as email address, home address or telephone number does not appear anywhere in the work. If you wish to attribute the work to a student or group of students, you may use a naming convention such as "Lincoln Elementary 3rd Grader" or "Mrs. Smith's class." Please carefully review our [Privacy Policy] and [Terms of Use] for more information.
